Press Release Summary = PR leader Brian Solis explains the importance of Web 2.0 for
small business in an interview conducted by Matt Alderton

Press Release Body = SAN JOSE, CALIF - August 15, 2007 - Brian Solis was interviewed
as an expert in defining how Web 2.0 tools can be beneficial for small businesses
in a recent article for the Small Business Online Resource Center. Solis is founder
and principal of FutureWorks, an award-winning PR and Social Media agency, and
author of the PR 2.0 Blog.

Matt Alderton, a Chicago-based journalist and author of the article, sought Solis'
view on small businesses embracing Web 2.0.

"Ultimately, small business owners are going to have to play in these new forums in
order to reach customers-in order to reach people," commented Solis.

The landscape is quickly changing for marketers - making it even more difficult for
small business owners to communicate their message effectively to their target
markets. Web 2.0 offers a new opportunity for smaller businesses to engage with
their customers.

Web 2.0 is a term often applied to a perceived ongoing transition of the World Wide
Web from a collection of websites to a full-fledged dynamic platform.

Web 2.0 Tools include:
- Social Networks
- Online Videos
- Wikis
- Social Search
- Blogs
- Forums
- Communities

"The way people consume news is changing. They want to learn about company products
from other people. They are no longer satisfied with the information companies
publish on their websites as "Nobody wants to be marketed to," said Solis. "And
because it's a peer-to-peer field, it requires a whole different mindset."

He urged small businesses to take advantage of the democratization of the Web and to
cast a Wide Net to reach the largest number of consumers saying, "I think every
small business owner should in some way, shape or form, blog." He added "The reason
is for nothing more than to demonstrate your passion and expertise for what you do
and how you do it better than anyone else."

Solis advised business owners to build relationships with consumers just by talking
and chatting with them. "Participate as a person and not as business owner."

Brian Solis also publishes bub.blicio.us, a blog that covers the Web 2.0 economy,
and regularly contributes PR and tech comments and articles to industry sites and
publications. Solis is co-founder of the Social Media Club, is an original member of
the Media 2.0 Workgroup, and also is a contributor to the Social Media Collective.
